It's no secret, Dallas has a very special breed of people, more commonly known as Dallasites. Dallasites are the ones who have always been here, and will probably always be here. Being from Dallas is so much more than just calling the Big D home, it's knowing and loving everything that comes with this crazy town. With the help of Thomas, and his mom, we came up with a little list of some tell tale signs you're from the Big D! How Dallas are YOU?
You know where all the best bluebonnet patches are, even the secret ones.
You don't go to north park without wearing something designer. Lululemon or Tory Burch. Either will work just fine.
When an out-of-towner asks where you're from, you say Dallas, because they just don't understand that "Preston Hollow" and "East Dallas" are like different states.
You ONLY travel 20 to go to Canton, First Monday Trade Days.

You know someone isn't from here if they call 75 "Central." The tollway is the "central" highway. 75 is where the bars are.
You only use DART to get to the TX/OU game, or when you're really drunk.
You know "Mr. Stop, Collaborate and Listen" is from this fabulous city.
Seeing a Dallas celebrity out-and-about is normal, and you may or may not hang your head in shame when your non-Dallasite friend gawks at them.
You had friends who were on Barney, and it was the coolest thing back in the day.
You know more than one "$30,000 Millionaire."And you know the city is filled with them!Whether you're from Dallas or from Timbuktu, there is something that sticks out about your city, and just screams "I'm a local!" Are you one of those people?
I'm not from Dallas, but I love these kinds of posts! Each place has its own culture that everyone who lives there can relate to!

What a fun post! I have never been to Dallas but have always wanted to visit the "Big D". I lived in Houston for 4 years and regret not visiting while I was close by. Now I can't wait for the upcoming season of Real Housewives of Dallas to see more of the luxe lifestyle Dallasites like to live.

This is a really neat post, Tiffani! In reading it, I could see some things that I totally didn't get since I'm not from Dallas (What the heck is a mambo taxi, haha!) But then again, I could see some similarities between Dallas and Houston. Going somewhere that's 15 miles away? Better leave an hour early to beat traffic! Can't wait to meet up this weekend :)

How cute is this post? Like Cristina, I definitely see some similarities to Houston like the horrendous traffic and all that jazz. I have only been to Dallas a handful of times but I'd love to go back soon.

Your roundup was pretty comical, even though I've been to Dallas only once. But it definitely made me think of a few similarities between Dallas and my own hometown!

Barney...lol! That highway interchange looks scary! I would get lost for sure.
ReplyDeleteI'm form Houston and going to college in Austin, and it makes me laugh at how much everyone hates traffic wherever you go. If you're ever in Austin, I'd love to meet up!
