{DIY} Home Plate Door Hanger

It's no secret... This time of year, baseball really consumes my life. So why not consume my front door as well? Here you'll find my DIY Home plate hanging. It's fairly simple and it looks great hung from the center of a wreath!
Supplies you'll need:
Craft wood board
Pocket knife or table saw
Pencil
Tape Measure
Paint
Paint Brush
Small Drill
Floral Wire

First
You will need to measure out your home plate. A normal home plate measures 17x8.5x12. My craft board was 12x12 so I had to scale it down in size. My measurements ended up approximately 12x6.25x8.5.

Next
You will need to cut along the measured lines. This may be easier if you have a table saw, but for the quality of wood I used, a heavy duty pocket knife, and a little elbow grease worked perfectly.

After that
I painted the piece. This was definitely the easiest part. I had a little inspiration from Pinterest.

Then
I let it dry. I did not add an acrylic top coat to his, because if it gets a little roughed up, I think it'll look even better!
Finally
I drilled two small holes in the top corners of the wood. Clearly, my little Ikea drill did the trick, so no need for a huge, fancy, drill! Once the holes were drilled, I threaded the floral wire through the holes to create an easy hanging mechanism.
I added the hanging to a simple wreath I had previous made, and it now hangs on our front door!
